Amanda Spillman, Clay County Hospital
Amanda Spillman, Clay County Hospital, phlebotomist, has been dedicated to leading a healthier lifestyle over the past year. She has been carefully watching her diet, reducing her fat and calorie intake, and making other small changes.
Spillman's nominator says, although she is known as a "picky eater," she has been open to trying new foods to expand her palate. She also has added exercise to her daily routine by going to the gym, walking at home and horseback riding.
With all of the changes she has made, Spillman has lost more than 35 pounds. "She is a true inspiration to her co-workers in the laboratory by leading a healthier lifestyle," says her nominator.
Spillman says her co-workers have inspired her as well. "In the lab, we're all losing weight. We all try to help each other make good decisions by bringing in healthy food.
"It's amazing to know that I made an impression on my colleagues and they nominated me for this honor," she says.
