Improving Our Health
The BJC HealthCare Health Literacy Program began in 2003 to encourage BJC employees to learn about and improve their health by reducing lifestyle-related risk factors.
This initiative for employees is an extension of BJC's commitment to improving health in the community. BJC introduced new programs to encourage its own employees to become more aware of their health status and to provide the resources needed to support important lifestyle changes. Further, preventable illness has a direct affect on an employer's cost of health care, disability, worker's compensation, increased absenteeism, lower productivity, reduced safety and morale.
Check your disease risk for:
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Osteoporosis
- Stroke
- Heart Disease
Kathleen Killion, BJC executive director of health literacy, talks about the program.
