Dedicated to women's fitness, Curves offers a proven 30-minute workout that combines strength training and sustained cardiovascular activity through safe and effective hydraulic resistance. Members are encouraged to commit to three workouts per week.
The standard joining fee is $149. Monthly membership fees are $34, plus tax, with a 12-month commitment.
In addition, Curves offers a weight management program that's designed to raise metabolism and produce permanent results. The two-hour weight management program is offered free to Curves members -- and non-members -- and includes a guidebook with menus for easy meal planning.
New at many Curves locations is "Curves Smart," a computerized "personal trainer" that analyzes age, body-fat composition, preliminary workout results and other factors to create a performance index to match or exceed during every workout. The system also tracks intensity and repetition to adjust performance expectations for future workouts. A progress report is immediately available at the end of every workout session that provides charts, graphs and diagrams showing the number of calories burned and the performance of various muscle groups.
